I traveled to Costa Rica for a travel study course in college and it was an incredible experience. The trip only lasted ten days, but I was able to see the key travel destinations that Costa Rica has to offer. I have created this Costa

Graduating During a Pandemic

Graduating During a Pandemic

The graduating class of 2020 is experiencing something that the previous classes never experienced, graduating during a pandemic. This is an interesting and scary time that the mentors we look up to have never experienced before. The advancing technology makes it a completely different experience

Travel Bucket List

Travel Bucket List

Traveling is something I have always wanted to do. I never had much opportunity to explore beyond the Midwest, but that did not stop me from creating a travel bucket list. Our family went on a few bigger vacations when I was younger like to Disney World in Florida and to DC while visiting my cousins, but in all honesty, my brother and I played so many sports that our evenings, weekends, and summers were filled with practices, games, and camps. It wasn’t until I was in college that I caught what people like to call “the travel bug” and I got started on my travel bucket list.

I began looking at all the travel possibilities my school offered and ended up taking a travel study course that involved a week long trip to Costa Rica during my Sophomore year. The experience opened my eyes to how much I could learn through travel and awakened a desire to explore the world around me.

Here are some of the top items on my Travel Bucket List!

#1 Learn about my heritage.

For me this involves visiting Germany, Norway, and Sweden. Although I know where I come from, I don’t really know much about the customs or traditions that go with it. I want to find out more about the cultures that shaped my family! (I will definitely be visiting Germany during Oktoberfest!)

#2 Go on an African Safari

I have wanted to do this for as long as I can remember, and can’t wait to see all of the wildlife!

#3 See the Great Barrier Reef

Sadly, this one has a bit of a timer on it. I sincerely hope that the efforts to save the Great Barrier Reef succeed, but I intend to see its beauty as soon as possible.

#4 Visit Egypt to see the Great Pyramid of Giza and the Sphinx

I have always been fascinated by Egypt and all the treasures that the home of the pharaohs holds.

I hope my Travel Bucket List inspires you to make your own! What places do you want to see? What do you want to learn through your travels? The earlier you start the more you will get to see, so I recommend checking college programs, volunteer trip sites, and travel sites for great deals! The adventure of a lifetime is out there waiting for you, don’t miss it!

P.S. Comment some of your top travel bucket list items. I’m always looking for new places to add to mine!

24 Hours in Louisville, Kentucky

What Does Self Improvement Mean To You?

What Does Self Improvement Mean To You?

I recently realized that self-improvement is one of my passions in life. It had never occurred to me that the essential oils and diffuser that I love so much, my green thumb wanna-be attitude, and the healthy lifestyle I am always trying to achieve, all come down to one thing. Self-improvement.

Such a wide range of interests can fall under self-improvement that people often don’t recognize them for what they really are. This leads me to ask: What does self-improvement mean to you?

If you are struggling to come up with an answer off the top of your head, don’t worry. I have a list to help you decide.

  1. Fitness & Yoga
  2. Healthy Diet
  3. Essential Oils & Diffusers
  4. Detoxing
  5. Meditation
  6. Skin Care & Acne Prevention
  7. Growing Plants
  8. Learning to Cook/Bake
  9. Keeping a Gratitude Diary
  10. Decluttering your: closet, apartment, life, etc.
  11. Learning a new skill
  12. Reading
  13. Waking up Early
  14. Reducing Technology Usage
  15. Art: drawing, coloring, painting, etc.
  16. And anything else you are doing to be a better version of yourself!

Self-improvement is something I encourage everyone to be passionate about. I’m not saying you need to start using essential oils or do a juice cleanse if that isn’t you, but do something. Set a workout goal for yourself to make your body stronger and healthier, start using face masks and hair masks, learn to cook a new meal, the possibilities are endless! Do what makes you happy and never stop trying to be a better version of yourself. After all, that’s how we grow!

How To Create The Best Resume For You

How To Create The Best Resume For You

Resumes are something that everyone has an opinion on. Some say it should follow a specific format; others want it to stand out from the generic filled in templates that most people have. I’m here to tell you that there is no right or wrong

Keeping Your New Year’s Resolutions

Keeping Your New Year’s Resolutions

It’s only February and if you are anything like me you are probably struggling to keep a few of your new year’s resolutions already. So I sat down and thought about all the ways that I’ve achieved my goals in the past and these are

Happy Holidays From Me To You

Happy Holidays From Me To You

The holiday season has always been about giving, spending time with loved ones, and remembering to be thankful for everything and everyone that you have in your life. I think that recently people have forgotten that the holiday season is not a competition between what holidays people celebrate or what greeting you choose to use. Instead it is a time of year that people of all races, religions, and upbringings can share the common emotions of joy, happiness, thanksgiving, and love for those around them.

In the spirit of the holidays, I would like to share with you a few of the traditions that make the holidays special to me. Since my family and I choose to celebrate Christmas a couple of these traditions will relate to that specific holiday, but not all.

Since I was a little girl, one of my favorite traditions has been making homemade caramels with my mom. Every year we make multiple batches and give them to friends, family, teachers, coworkers, and anyone else we think might enjoy them. They are a treat that I look forward to all year round, and something that my friends ask about during the holiday season!

Another tradition that I think everyone can relate to in their own way is decorating your home for the holidays. The last few years I’ve had the opportunity not just to help decorate my family home, but also my college apartment with my roommates! At home, I help my mom put up our Christmas tree and my dad and brother help us with the ornaments while we listen to holiday songs. Every year my mom gets each of us a new ornament to put on the tree so that our decorations grow with us! But by far my favorite part of decorating is the Santa Bears that we put out. These bears are something that my grandma has done since my mom was a little girl and it has become a tradition for my grandma, my mom, and my aunt’s families. Each polar bear is dressed in a different outfit. Some are Santas, but others are firemen, or police officers, or whatever occupation the company decided to do the year it came out. Every year I look forward to putting them out and spending time with my family.

And last but certainly not least, I enjoy traveling to see my extended family during the holidays! Each year my mom, dad, brother, and I travel to both sides of the family to spend time with our grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins and exchange gifts with one another. It is a special time of year because the older we all get, the busier our schedules become, but we know that we will always get to see each other for Christmas!

These traditions are what make the holiday season special to me. It is a time of year where I remember all of the things that I am thankful for. So I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of the people that have read my blog during its first five months. It took me a long time to finally start it and your support means the world to me! I hope that all of you have special holiday traditions to look forward to just like my family and I do! If you would like to tell me about one of the holiday traditions you have, comment below! I would love to hear about it! Happy Holidays everyone!

How To Stay Warm This Winter: Tips by a True Wisconsinite

How To Stay Warm This Winter: Tips by a True Wisconsinite

This week I realized winter weather has come to stay in the mid-west. I got cold walking to class in my winter coat and at one point in the day a friend remarked, “Can you feel your toes? Because I can’t”. When I got home,
