24 Hours in Louisville, Kentucky

24 Hours in Louisville, Kentucky

Downtown Louisville, Kentucky has an incredible amount of character. Travelers that are looking for a city with a story should look no further! I only spent 24 hours in Louisville and never expected that I would enjoy it as much as I did. From their delicious Bar-b-q to the historic Louisville Slugger baseball bats, Lousiville did not disappoint.

Dinner at Doc Crow’s

After arriving in the late afternoon, the first thing my family looked for was a delicious spot for dinner. We found Doc Crows Southern Smokehouse & Raw Bar just a short walk from the hotel. It had a short wait time, but it was worth it for the delicious food we enjoyed! The energized atmosphere brought the restaurant to life and the selection of local beers let us sample more of Kentucky’s culture. As a girl born and raised in the midwest, I had never tasted anything quite like southern bar-b-q brisket. Now I know exactly how it should taste and the midwest doesn’t offer anything quite like it.

Historical Reminders

On the walk back to the hotel, I started to notice signs from the Commonwealth of Kentucky that were placed all over the city. Each told a story about the place it stood. As people walk around the city they get to put together little pieces of history that tell them how it came to be what it is today. Now they have electric scooters to rent and entertainment like The Thirsty Pedaler can be found just around the corner. Who knows what the next 200 years will bring!

The Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory

Louisville Kentucky Louisville Slugger

The main attraction that we visited while in town was the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory. As the most well-known and beloved bat in the U.S. there is more to the Louisville Slugger than meets the eye. I never knew that such intricate work went into creating baseball bats. Wood is carefully inspected and only the very best can be sent to the major leagues. Some of your favorite players have their bats custom made with their particular specifications. Different types of wood, various weights, and much more can be used to customize major league bats.

If you are passing through or looking for a great family vacation spot, I recommend Louisville, Kentucky. The food, museums, and downtown culture are incredible. I felt excited walking around downtown with something new and interesting around every corner.
