Keeping Your New Year’s Resolutions

Keeping Your New Year’s Resolutions

It’s only February and if you are anything like me you are probably struggling to keep a few of your new year’s resolutions already. So I sat down and thought about all the ways that I’ve achieved my goals in the past and these are the tips and tricks that I came up with.

Write it all down

Take some time and write down your goals for this year in a notebook or whiteboard or of something that you see everyday. This will serve as your daily reminder and keep you focused of your goals. However, if you never see them you will soon forget all about them and go back to your old habits.

Keep track of how you are doing

You can track your goals in many ways: charts, notebooks, apps, etc. All of them work as long as you can see the progress that you are making! When you see how well you are doing you will be motivated to keep going and create good habits this year.

Send yourself little reminders

I send myself reminders through my “reminders” section in my phone, but you can set alarms, write it in your planner, or whatever else works for you. I usually put my goals by my to do list so that I see it regularly!

Reward yourself along the way

Set mini goals for yourself! The best way to keep yourself on track is to be working toward a reward. If you want to stop biting your nails, reward yourself with a manicure after not biting your nails for a month or growing them to a certain length! Whatever keeps you interested and motivated is a great mini goal!

Keep a positive attitude

Do not get discouraged if you have trouble staying on track or meeting your goal. Changing your habits is difficult! One candy bar or missed workout is not the end of the world, just do your best to get back on track and do not let one misstep ruin your progress.

Don’t let your new year’s resolutions end after only a month! Keep yourself motivated and achieve your goals with these tips! Good luck!
